Elementary Tech Teachers

A place for elementary tech teachers to share.

I was wondering if anyone has any free online websites with no online passwords (in particular learn to read, sight words, etc.) that they may suggest?  I am in the process of helping to set up Kindergarten computers that will be used as a center.  Many thanks!!

Starfall is always a good one with the younger set.  Also ABCya for mouse skills and learning games. Hope this helps.

Kinder Web is another very basic site.  It tells the students directions which is nice for the first half of the year.

Everyone,

Thank you very very much.  These will be helpful in starting the computer center.  If you happen to find and/or remember others, please send them my way!

Thanks again!

The following link is another great site for kinders: http://www.owlieboo.com/  It is great practice for pressing the keys, mouse movement, and clicking and dragging.  I came across this site last year and my st. would request to go on it!  Enjoy!

Thanks again everyone!  I am being asked by our school district to find websites for extended day Kindergarten classes. These are students that need that "little extra" help in learning to read, initial sound fluency, phoneme segmentation , alphabet letters and beginning sounds as well as Kindergarten sight words.  Any suggestions on websites? As always, thanks so much!

Another great website for Kindergarten is http://www.kiddonet.com/gb/flash/phonics/Intro.html (click on "cancel" and "Ok" if you get the Shockwave Flash message)

http://www.kindersite.org/index.html (Choose "Children's Directory" on the homepage) where the site is organized by age level.  This may be a site to use later in the year when they are more familiar with navigating between websites.
