"Yes, I agree. There's no point in looking *too* far into the future. Keyboards are currently still a part of our world. (Although my school is heading in the iPad direction, we still have computers, of course.) I, too, have spent less time on…"

"Right now, I have to prepare my students for their futures. The future after they leave our K-8 school still involves a lot of use of a traditional keyboard. Many of the high schools in the area are 1:1 netbooks (not iPads) and even those that…"

Hi Stacy, welcome to the Ning! I just wanted to let you know when I clicked on your link I did not get to you web page. I was going to see if I could find out where you are in MN. When I was first married we lived way up north in Bemidji. Except for the mosquitoes I loved MN!

Thanks for the photos, the computers look great. I also like your keyboard on the wall. That's my summer project-to come up with some type of keyboard display on the wall. The thing I miss the most about teaching in MN is the 3 month summers! We don't get out until June 26th. Your site looks like it's off to a great start. Have fun working on it this summer.

I just spent some time browsing your school web site. You are doing some awesome things. I hope you don't mind if I copy some of them:)
For it being your first year last year, you accomplished so much! This year will be my second too and I'm excited.
I think you see your students more than I do. I only have K-5 for 30 minutes once a week (I'm half time). I teach 7th grade required elective computer applications each quarter (I get each 7th grader for one quarter). It sure doesn't give me much time.
Good luck on your summer planning.

Your keyboard Bboard is great! did you make it? I am trying to find one to purchase or the supplies to make one if you have any tips to share I would appreciate it.
This will be my first year as k-5 tech teacher and the lab needs decorations which are hard to find that relate to computers..
Thanks, Lisa

Hi Stacy,
I use Edublogs.org for my site. I created the banner myself using digital scrapbook kit pieces related to my theme and Photoshop. Let me know if you need any more info!

Hi, I love the keyboard you have on the wall...where did you get that?

I inherited the keyboard, but I searched for another one. I found this link. It's a bit spendy at $160!

Hi Stacy, Just wanted to get back with you concerning my type to learn poster. Regarding your question on technique, I keep a close eye on the kid’s technique and constantly remind the kids that they can only get faster with proper hand placement. However, my current top typist is missing 4 fingers on their right hand; this child really enjoys seeing their name on the poster.
