An interesting article: Typing in the Age of iPads. To be honest, I'm not 100% sure I should be teaching keyboarding. In my lab, I do make sure my kids have the basics down: letter location, two hands, thumb for your spacebar. What do you think? Thanks for the photos, the computers look great. I also like your keyboard on the wall. That's my summer project-to come up with some type of keyboard display on the wall. The thing I miss the most about teaching in MN is the 3 month summers! We don't get out until June 26th. Your site looks like it's off to a great start. Have fun working on it this summer.

For it being your first year last year, you accomplished so much! This year will be my second too and I'm excited.
I think you see your students more than I do. I only have K-5 for 30 minutes once a week (I'm half time). I teach 7th grade required elective computer applications each quarter (I get each 7th grader for one quarter). It sure doesn't give me much time.

This will be my first year as k-5 tech teacher and the lab needs decorations which are hard to find that relate to computers..

Regarding your question on technique, I keep a close eye on the kid’s technique and constantly remind the kids that they can only get faster with proper hand placement. However, my current top typist is missing 4 fingers on their right hand; this child really enjoys seeing their name on the poster.
