New Job

I found out today that I have a new job. I'm being pulled from the lab and will now be the K-2 AIS (Academic Intervention Services) ELA teacher in one of our schools. I'm one that always says change is good so I'm accepting the new challenge and looking forward to my new role. I've taught first and second grade in this building so I will be working closely with my friends. The first thing I asked for was to have my desk removed and replaced with a table and 4 computers. At this point it sounds… Continue

NECC

My goal for today is to look through my notes, brochures, business cards and handouts from NECC and begin to put all that good information into one place. I've debated how I want to do that; should I post here, on my blog, or make a wiki. I've finally decided on posting it all here. I'm going to post information from each session in a separate forum discussion. I think… Continue

Elementary Tech Teachers Ning

This is what I posted on my Wordpress blog:

Well, I’ve had 3 people tell me they’d join my Ning for elementary tech teachers if I set one up. So, I decided that was enough motivation to get me started. I was going to put it on my growing summer to do list but changed my mind and started it now. It was very simple since I chose to keep it that way. For now there’s no fancy background or… Continue

Hi Nedra!

My husband and I are scuba instructors and spend as much time under water as possible! This is a picture of him swimming into a cavern in Florida. The spring water comes out of this cavern with quite a bit of force, so you really have to work to get in!
To me, this picture represents the personality traits it takes to explore unknown territory...curiosity, sense of adventure, courage....and NINGs are definitely unknown territory for me!

Hi Nedra,
Hope to learn a lot from everyone and to share ideas. I've been integrating technology into the elementary curriculum for 10 years now and am looking forward to sharing ideas on how to incorporate Web 2.0 tools at the elementary level.

It is easy to move around in our lab but there are problems too. When I am helping an individual student my back is to the rest of the class which can lead to too much chatting in some of the classes.
