Hi teachers. How do you all keep your equipment clean in your labs?  I'm currently dealing with finger smudges on monitors and younger students who haven't learned to cover their sneezes.  Everyone…Continue

Hi teachers,I'm wondering if any of you are using Google SketchUp in your computer labs.  If so, could you share some of what you're doing?  For those of you unfamiliar with it, I invite you to watch…Continue

I'm interested in talking with teachers who may have experience getting students programming using Scratch or similar software.  The idea of it is to get kids programming simple animations or games.…Continue

"Hi Jen, I've never used this site before but I just visited and tried to re-create the scenario.  If you export without naming the files it gives them semi-randomized file names.   For example, I tried it twice and my computer saved…"

Simulating Communication Delays (Mars Rovers)

Hi folks.I need a little help from any programming gurus.  In short, I'm looking for a way to program to NXTs so that one can give the other movement commands, but with a 3-5 second delay.I was recently inspired by an article I read which described the implications of the 20 minute communication delay between earth and the rovers on Mars, like Curiosity. I'm designing a two part lesson, involving NXTs which are controlled by a second NXT via bluetooth.  In the first part of the lesson, students…See More

NXT Display on computer monitor?

Hi Teachers,I'm currently working with a student who has significant learning disabilities. She is accompanied by an aide who is very shy around technology and has an especially hard time seeing what is on the display of the NXT.  I'm determined to make things work but I'm struggling. Do any of you know if there might be a way to mirror what's on the NXT's display to a computer's monitor? I think blowing it up would help the aide to help the student and allow them to work together without…See More

Sub Lessons

Hi Teachers,I was hoping some of you might be willing to share what you would have a robotics class do if you couldn't be there to facilitate.  I'll be taking my first personal day since starting to teach Lego Robotics and I'm realizing it's way too much to try to pass off on a substitute. On a given day I have two 25-minute 5th grade classes back-to-back.  I'm sure there are valuable things I can have the kids do that one day that wouldn't involve getting robots out and programming them.  Are…See More
