so funny that you posted this, because just recently I had my 5th grade classes publishing their October Mystery Stories using Tickaok. A week into the project, the site totally changed and eliminated its teacher dashboard. Before you could create...

In our 4th grade after school science club, I had students pretend they were molecules and we had a dance party. We played very fast music for the gaseous state and they could dance all over the room. For the liquid state we played music of a "med...

I am an elementary technology teacher and also teach gifted and talented. On top of that, I also do technology professional development for our school and maintain our school website.
We were pleasantly surprised to find your comment on Mrs. Meisner's class voicethread! Thanks so much. I just posted another VT, but this time we used the interactive whiteboard to capture the kids' problem solving strategies for a math problem.

I took the big pumpkin image and used the polygonal lasso under the image selection to carve out a feature. Then I pressed the delete key to delete the selection. I took a picture of myself and used the oval marquee to select a round section of the picture of myself and used the cutout command to retain the oval. I placed the picture of myself behind the carved pumpkin by using the layering command under ordering to send it to the back. I used the formatting palette, but I think all of these commands are in the drawing toolbars.

Hey! I have 2 little ones, also (ages 2 and one who just turned 4 yesterday!). The keyboard was made by the teacher before me, but she used the styrofoam cartons (used as doggie boxes for leftovers). The letters were made out of some type of stick paper (not sure if she used a die-cut machine or not). I am currently giving it a facelift and am coloring all the keys to match some typing hands that show which finger types which letter. I'm just using colored construction paper and white die-cut letters (2 inch). I'll post pics of it once it's completed. Hope this helps!
Frantic does sound like a good word for it! I have on in college and one in high school. That makes it much easier for me. We do have a separate teacher for the gifted and talented. Our G/T teacher retired last year. The new teacher does G/T at both elementary schools, the middle school and provides remedial math help at one elementary school. I haven't had a chance to ask her how it's going since we're not always on the same schedule.
Busy, isn't the word! On top of my professional life, I am also a mom of two little ones! So, frantic is a little bit better! At your school do you have a teacher who teaches gifted and talented?
Welcome to the Ning, Maureen. You have a very busy schedule! It's great to see that you are already leaving comments. Take a look around the site and feel free to begin your own discussion. Thanks for joining,
