Welcome to the lab

During one of the last weeks of school, I had students upload a picture of an avatar (each student had created 3 avatars in the Fall) to SuperLame at http://www.superlame.com/. They added a word balloon and were asked to write one thing they loved doing in the computer lab that the new 5th graders could look forward to. I printed and put on a bulleting board labeled Welcome to the Computer Lab You're gonna love...
This was up for the 4th grade visitations. I covered with newspaper for the summer and uncovered for an instant Welcome to the Lab bulletin board for September. I'm sure parents will enjoy this at out Open House the week before school starts!

Kids had a choice of the following:
Become an m&m
Sonic the Hedge Hog Creator
Reasonably Clever Lego Mini-Mizer (kid version)

Kids made an avatar at all 3 early in the year, then used whichever they wanted for projects e.g. VoiceThread.

I love it! I had students email me a hint for incoming 3/4/5 graders at the end of the school year, which I then put together as a back-to-school packet for their grade level. Yours is much more visual. I'm going to try it this year.
