Earbuds Station

Each student in the school, 1st-6th grade, received their own earbuds this year. Previous years, we shared 30 sets of headphones for 420 kids. So we decided this year to get each student their own pair to avoid any health issues, lice, etc. Thought this was a great way to make it fun and keep them organized.

Did the school provide earbuds?  What was the cost?  I am trying to figure out a new system.  We bought 35 new headphones 2 years ago and now I only have about 20 working properly.  Thank you!!

Are they headphones or ear buds? I am looking for new headphones this year and this might be an option.

Where did you get them and how much did they cost?

They are earbuds and they were $1 each. We purchased them from the dollartree.com and they come in assorted colors. They were an absolute hit! They are even working for my 1st and 2nd graders who have much smaller ears than the 5th and 6th graders. A great buy!

I asked my students to bring thier own earbuds this year and the response has been overwhelming, especially with my 4th grade.  I guess they like showing off thier fashionista personality because I have seen all colors and styles. They keep thier own earbuds in a ziploc along with thier flashdrive in the lab. Is the cart to store each class separately and what does your bullentin board say.

Yes. Each drawer is separated by homeroom. They are in ziplock as well with their names on the earbuds themselves and the bag. My board has directions for putting away and one for getting them out and one for important things to remember - no sharing, etc. I wanted to have the students bring their own in however I knew it would be a fashion/money competition so we bought them for them. So far so good! Yours sounds very organized as well!

Do you have problems with them getting tangled and in knots? If so, do you have any suggestions?

Molly, would you mind sharing what your directions are  on your bullentin board.  What did you use for your board border?  I think it is so cute.My email is showard@paisd.org

Hi Jennifer- occasionally i have a few problems with knots but its usually the same few kids. I tell them to loosely wrap them around their hand and place it in the bag. Helps for the most part.

Hi Shiela, the border is from lakeshore teaching store. They are mini iPods with earbuds on. As for the board- it's really simple. Just rules for how to put away, what to and not to do. Unfortunately I didn't even save the doc. They're VERY simple rules. I can take a closer pic if that helps.
