Elementary Tech Teachers

A place for elementary tech teachers to share.

I am in love with the snipping tool on my personal laptop but I have no such capabilities on my school one. I have found a great Chrome app called Screen Capture by Google. It's very simple and it will be great for making clickable buttons for my wiki page from school. Just thought I'd pass it along.

You don't have the Windows snipping tool? We love that in my classes. I had the 5th graders create a shortkey for it--Ctrl+Alt+S so it comes up instantly (right click on the tool icon, go to Properties and add it).

Do you use Macs?

The snipping tool isn't available on Windows-XP. We don't have it either.

Hunh. The things no one tells me! OK, I love Printkey 2000 (works by pushing the PrintScreen key--love that), but it's pretty old. So I also love Jing.

Having said that, I'm going to check out Screen Capture, see if I can add that to my list of favorites.

I teach my students to use the PrintScreen button and then we use Irfanview to crop and save it. If they need it for Word or PPT they just paste directly into those and crop in them.

I thought it was kind of weird too. I just found the snip tool on my personal laptop last year. Who knew! I've looked all over my school laptop and it's not there.

Just tried it. I like it. It doesn't have the copy tool, but seems to have everything else. I've added it to my Google Chrome.

I haven't used Jing or any other site before. I hated to use print screen and MS Paint. I just wanted to make website buttons for the wiki so this was the best answer for me.
