Elementary Tech Teachers

A place for elementary tech teachers to share.

As a school we are beginning the discussion of purchasing iPads for student use instead of iTouches.  I'm looking for input from schools that have iPads in place and wondering if it is worth the added expense.  Presently teachers are using iTouches in small group settings and with ELL students.

I don't have any information for you but I'd love to hear more about how they're using the touches, especially if its at the primary level. I have two touches that I'm using a little bit with 1st/2nd graders. I'm also wondering if I should try an iPad so I'll be keeping an eye on this conversation.
Check out this BrainPOP-inspired movie on iPod's created by a 1st grade class - it is so cute!

I'm currently researching the use of ipads for the K-5 level. I recently visited a school that has ipads in grades K-12 - very exciting.
Here are some resources I have found helpful - saved on my delicious account http://www.delicious.com/digi.raffe/ipad
If approved, we plan to begin with ipads in the technology lab soon.
Some of our students already have them at home and I think the numbers will increase quickly. Students are telling me how their families are using ipads - reading, research and games. The number of educational apps is increasing and I want to help our students, families, and teachers use ipads for learning and productivity.

We are in the same process of deciding whether to purchase more ipads.  I could not access your delicious page??

I have a Google site about iPads in Elementary Education.
