Elementary Tech Teachers

A place for elementary tech teachers to share.

My principal is trying to convince the head of technology in our district that ipad apps could be a resourceful tool for intervention with the at risk students. If your school is using ipads  for this purpose, please let me know how.

I just bought an ipad that I use with my intervention reading group.  Currently we record and listen to their reading with the ipad.  I plan to use if further and have the students play some of the phonics games.

We use iPads sometimes in RTI groups. There are a lot of phonics apps which help the kids, we also like TimedReading it is a great app which gives teachers the students fluency. The words per minute are saved for each student on each story. I also like Storia a free app from scholastic book clubs. You do have to buy the stories but there are games for comprehension through out the story.

I hope this helps. If you would like a list of more apps we have on our iPads and iPods you could email me and I could send you a list that we use here at school. ruth.tutewiler@harrison.kyschools.us

Please send me your list...We are just beginning to pilot iPads in one class and that would be helpful.
