FREE Access to a Scanning Electron Microscope
New Find! While looking for new lessons for my Digital Blue microscopes I found a fabulous website called Bugscope. This "project provides free interactive access to a scanning electron microscope (SEM) so that students anywhere in the world can explore the microscopic world of insects. This educational outreach program from the Beckman Institute's Imaging Technology Group at the University of Illinois supports K-16 classrooms worldwide."
You mail insects to them, schedule a time for viewing your specimens online, and chat with a member of their team. There is much more, so go take a look! By the spring I would love to have plans and schedules in place AND collaborate with others here. Let me know what you think!

This is the coolest thing ever! We finished with our mealworms, but caterpillars are coming up in the Spring! I will share this with the teachers who have units on insects. Thanks for this great find!
