DanceMat is Great!

I just wanted to share that my 3rd grade class is doing a great job on DanceMat. I took over the K-5 computer classes last year in the middle of the year. I was never satisfied with keyboarding. No matter how often I reminded the students about proper fingering on the home row they continued to hunt and peck. My 5th grade class is still doing it. I decided to put the 3rd grade on DanceMat this year and the 4th and 5th on Typing Web. I am walking around watching classes of 30 and 31 3rd graders keeping there hands on the proper keys and trying not to look at their hands. They are so entertained by DanceMat. Every once in awhile someone will start to giggle. I will be giving my 4th and 5th an accuracy test next week while their hands are covered. I hope it will motivate some to stop pecking and looking down at their hands, but the 3rd grade is a huge encouragement that perhaps in the future I can send my classes to 6th grade keyboarding properly!
